CARNIVAL LEGEND BIDS ADIEU TO SYDNEY AFTER SUCESSFUL FIRST AUSSIE SEASON.

Carnival Legend Bids Adieu to Sydney After Successful First Aussie Season

Carnival Legend will depart Sydney this evening after its first Australian summer deployment which saw the Carnival Cruise Line ship carry more than 50,000 Australians on 22 roundtrip cruises and inject an estimated $20 million into the local economy.

During a farewell gathering onboard this morning, the crew joked that today’s heavy rain in Sydney was the city crying as the much-loved ship prepared to depart for the last time this season. Others said they would have to “un-Aussify” their lingo and remember to call ‘prawns’ ‘shrimps’ until they return Down Under for their second Sydney summer.

To farewell the crew of Carnival Legend, Carnival Cruise Line Australia Vice President Jennifer Vandekreeke presented them with a giant goodbye card filled with Facebook messages and photos from guests and staff.

Guest contributions included comments like this from Jodi Jerram: “Loved our cruise, loved our crew, loved the cocktails, loved the weather, we are just in love!!”

In thanking the crew, Ms Vandekreeke said they had captured the hearts of the Australian people.

“We couldn’t be happier with the warm reception Carnival Legend has received Down Under over the past seven months. Australian cruisers have fallen in love with her, just as they have with her sister ship Carnival Spirit and we can’t wait to bring her back for another summer of fun in October,” Ms Vandekreeke said.
