P&O Cruises Australia Ups The Ante With Pacific Explorers NEW Features On Show During Unveiling !
P&O Cruises will take holidaymakers on a voyage of discovery on its latest ship, Pacific Explorer, which will debut next year with exciting new features including two spectacular waterslides, a chilled barefoot bowls green and an elegant supper club for evening entertainment.

With Pacific Explorer’s inaugural cruise from Sydney now less than one year away, P&O has unveiled details of the ship’s multi-million dollar refurbishment.

Maintaining the cruise line’s reputation for innovation, Pacific Explorer will be packed with surprises, including P&O’s first ever waterpark at sea, as well as its most extensive range of dining options, delivered in a stylish, contemporary setting.
The fun starts on the top decks with two breathtaking waterslide experiences – the first offering LED lights and sound effects and the second featuring heart-racing twists and turns.
Waterpark At Sea.
Guests of all ages will be able to enjoy the waterpark, with a shaded area for kids featuring a dumping bucket and oversized water toys.
Bare Foot Bowls
Meanwhile, the popular P&O Edge Adventure Park will feature activities including a flying fox, while those seeking a more relaxed pace will be able to head to the back deck for a cruisey game of barefoot bowls.
The Black Circus Supper Club.
Continuing P&O’s food revolution, Pacific Explorer will offer some tantalising new dining concepts, including The Black Circus, a supper club venue offering delicious food served with a side of cabaret-style entertainment.
The New Pizza Eatery.
Cruisers will also be able to enjoy a slice of Italy, with a new pizza restaurant offering gourmet pizzas and share platters, while the cruise line’s popular international food market place, The Pantry, will be extended to include a ninth outlet, Nic and Toni’s, serving Mediterranean cuisine. Also on offer will be a poolside Lobster & Burger bar, serving delicious lobster and seafood rolls as well as premium beef and pulled pork burgers.
Angelos.
The new dining options are in addition to the cruise line’s popular Waterfront restaurant, which will feature on Pacific Explorer along with two other restaurants which debuted on Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden last year: Angelo’s, serving contemporary Italian cuisine.
Angelo’s is a contemporary dining space with a relaxed vibe that is casual enough to be comfortable but with a touch of sophistication that feels luxurious and indulgent. In line with the rest of the ships, the design was inspired by modern Australia.
While there is a move away from the traditional trattoria style menus, the menu has enough choice to suit everyone’s taste. To some it may seem limited but to others there was enough variety. I found the menu in Angelo’s to be a mix of classic Italian dishes plus there were a few that were quite rustic dishes which I loved.
Angelo’s has a very modern take that incorporates the latest trends in Italian dining. Traditional favourites like Linguini Pasta Vongole and Eight-hour Veal Ossobucco Gremolata which was quite a rustic dish.
This was offered alongside modern specialities like Sicilian-style Fremantle Sardines using fine Australian produce, as a main on the menu.
Dragon Lady.

With a sultry mix of dark timbers and midnight blue tones, it boasts an intimate and mysterious setting. Be seduced by the exotic scents and spices of a menu inspired by Australians’ passion for Asian cuisine.
The Waterfront Restaurant.
With over 40 different menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Waterfront Restaurant which is based on a modern Australia serves up a sophisticated selection of both classic dishes and cutting edge cuisine.
There is even something to keep the kids happy with their mini menu. The Waterfront Restaurant offers a huge choice of menu options that are both healthy, and full of flavour to keep everyone happy. The kids specials menu changes daily, so even those who find it hard to make up their mind on what to eat will find something they’ll love.
It also should be noted that for those who have different diatary requirements should approach the Matra'D so that they can talk about what their requirements are. This information then will be passed on to the Head Chef who then will be able to cater to your needs for breakfast, lunch and dinner or what ever you require.
The Waterfront restaurant is available on all P&O ships and is open for breakfast and dinner every day and lunch most days.
Salt Grill.
Another P&O favourite, Salt grill by Luke Mangan will also be onboard, enjoying a sparkling location overlooking the main pool area, while a range of new bars, including a stylish hidden bar, will provide the perfect location for relaxing pre and post dinner drinks.
From the Tapas menu which has garlic and herb flat bread, bruschetta or the grilled arrow squid. To Oysters which can be done three ways at a surcharge of $2.00 AUD, there are certainly plenty of options on the menu. Then there are the meats from the grill, and for my personal choice the scotch fillet- bone in is always a winner. There is also for those who choose not to have red meat options on the menu, such as the Barramundi, snapper or the lobster tails which come out beautifully presented on the plate.
Then comes that time for desert, well what can I say with six deserts to choose from the floating island with fresh berrys and fruit to the famous liquorice parfait which is Lukes signature desert. Maybe you could alsways choose the decadent strawberry cheescake or tiramisu. Which ever way you decide to choose you'll be in for one unforgettable evening !
Announcing details of the refurbishment, P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said Pacific Explorer’s décor would reflect modern Australia, combining elegance with relaxed comfort to create the striking contemporary look which has become a trademark of the P&O fleet.
Mr Myrmell said the P&O team had a lot of fun designing Pacific Explorer.

“We’ve taken the winning features of our existing ships, then added a whole new layer of excitement with some big wow moments like the waterslides as well as new concepts like the bowling green and a stunning hidden bar, which we think will put a smile on our guests’ faces,” Mr Myrmell said.
“It really will be a ship that offers something for everyone.”
Presently sailing as Dawn Princess with sister line Princess Cruises, the 77,000-tonne Pacific Explorer will be refitted in May and June next year, sailing on her first cruise from Sydney on June 22. She will join P&O ships Pacific Dawn and Pacific Jewel as well as P&O’s latest additions, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, which debuted last year.
