FOUR SEASONS HOTEL, SYDNEY REVIEW
A room with a view.
The Four Seasons Hotel chain is well recognised for the upmarket elegance and style encompassed throughout the chain, including the magnificent Sydney Four Seasons, sitting aloft the top of a skyscraper above Circular Quay, with views over Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge as well as taking in that wonderful harbour we all love.
The one night my partner and I spent at the Four Seasons on a trip to Sydney before joining the cruise ship Pacific Jewel I found it difficult to decide whether to be most impressed by the fantasticviews, the great personalised service, the classy room designs or the cleverly thought out business facilities. With those ceiling to floor views, where better than to relax than in your room?
The Four Seasons Hotel is located at 199 George StreetSydney, handy to the popular Rocks area, and is a perfect starting point for a night out on the town, or you can enjoy that special night in the hotel itself! Located at the northern end of the CBD, an ideal position for that memorable evening of entertainmentat the OperaHouse, The Rocks, or the numerous other options around Circular Quay.
The atrium in the hotel is well-designed to enhance the structure of the building, the ceiling reaching to the stars, spectacular chandeliers and widespread floors of polished stone. I was soon completely relaxed in the deluxe harbour view room and what a view! Overlooking the Opera House, Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge saw us enjoying the sunset before the twinkling lights around the Harbour took on another stunning spectrum.
Businessand corporatetravellersstaying at the hotel are frequently upgraded to these rooms, according to information I was given, but the views are only slightly less panoramic from the rooms on the two sides of the hotel facing towards the harbour. Other rooms have a view into Darling Harbour beyond the Harbour Bridge, and back towards the CBD. On entering our room, the small entrance hallway proved to beperfect for stowing the luggage while the bedroom was, as expected, extremely comfortable, with a pillow-topped bed, sensible and practical work desk with executive chair, additional armchair and a comfortable sofa placed to take in the panoramic view. Style surrounds every corner of the room from the lamps, coffee and bedside tables to the elegant soft furnishings.
The desk was perfectly comfortable for a full day's work, and the wireless Internet was lightning fast (though quite expensive). Another option for meetings is the executive lounge on the 32nd floor, which has ample seating for informal business meetings and a boardroom that comfortably seats ten. It's a pleasant place to work, also allowing views over Darling Harbour and the CBD. I managed a quick peek into the executive lounge on the night of my stay, which had an excellent spread of hot and cold canape options - quite impressive, the best I’ve seen in some time. The staff in the executive lounge were most helpful with excellent suggestions for travelling in and around Sydney.
Business travellers often give hotel restaurants a miss, but 'The Woods Restaurant' is an adventurous destination on its own.
Rising young executive chef Hamish Ingham has taken over the helm, creating a menu that centres on the use of fresh, quality produce, cooked over a range of naturally flavoured Australian woods in the restaurant’s centrally located, wood-fired oven and grill. In 'The Woods', a spacious open kitchen adds a theatrical touch to the intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Décor includes a grand hand-hewn wood block, a live herb wall and a bar which offers a lighter menu. Also featured is a semi-private dining room, ideal for larger bookings and functions, with a separate entry. Another option is a woodfired pizza, cooked before your eyes. 'GRAIN', the new artisan bar in the Sydney Four Seasons Hotel, enhances the art of fine drinking. It’s a celebration of the passions, people and products that have come together to create the Rocks district newest neighbourhood local, a place for Sydney-siders and hotel guests alike to discover the best of Australia and the world.
Or, you can invite Executive Chef Hamish Ingham and his team, to bring the smoky aromas of 'The Woods' to your room. Ingham gently coaxes exquisite flavours from that fresh produce, treating it with the utmost respect, maintaining its inherent natural flavour and quality.
The swimming pool, located on a lower level, plus a gymnasium, along with the lobby bar and café were very inviting. The gym has it all - condition yourself in the Spa and Fitness Centre on cardio-vascular machines that feature personal TV monitors - tone your muscles with weight machines and available weights - stay limber with exercise mats, medicine balls, and aerobics equipment.
Don't miss the chance to spoil yourself with this superb luxury accommodations in Sydney, decorated in contemporary grand-deluxe style. Relax in a luxurious room or suite that overlooks the Sydney skyline, George Street or Walsh Bay, unwind in a City Harbour-View Room that overlooks Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, or treat yourself to full harbour-view accommodations that offer dramatic panoramas of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Walsh Bay. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons and would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy that personal service from the moment you step from your vehicle to the moment you are warmly farewelled. It's easy to see why 86percent of the Sydney Four Seasons Hotel Australian market is derived from the Business Sector, not only is ita greatplace to stay while on business or on holiday, but ideal if you are just passing through. This hotel has everything you could wish for and is a stand out for efficiency and comfort, plus that personal touch by staff in remembering your name is quite remarkable - a hotel that is above the rest in more ways than one.
